International shipping guru - Shop, Ship, Save
I have recently figured out that there are a lot of people out there that don't know what in God's name they are doing when shipping internationally. Therefore, I decided to start this blog to help people in the US to ship internationally. International Shipping is a very complicated process and can be confusing to even the largest of companies. I have many years of international shipping experience so I am more than glad to help.
There is a new business on the streets to help businesses and individuals that ship on ebay. They are mail forwarding companies. They provide a wealth of knowledge about shipping to various countries. However, the greatest value about these mail forwarding companies is that they will provide you with a US address to ship to. Basically, you ship your product domestically, they store the product and log all the contents. Then, you tell them when you want to ship the US product overseas. They handle all of the processing of the commercial invoices and any other paperwork that may be needed. Then, they track it to your door!
Pretty cool. Some other resources that I have found with excellent international information is DHL. They are by far the best courier company overseas. Many people in the US think of FedEx and UPS when they ship their packages. However, DHL is huge in comparison overseas. Their website also has a lot of international shipping info.
I have to admit...I am not an expert at heavy freight, but I do know some stuff. I just haven't found a real practical need for myself. Most of the items I search for and purchase are sporting goods. Typically, they are under 150lbs, which is the max for most of the carrier companies.
